the past put simply:
Rochelle. Evolved from many different experiences,
mainly Last of my Letters, Five Finger Discount, this
band is prepared to do what it takes to rock you.
A unique blend of rock and roll, emo and pop-punk put together
by four high school kids with nothing better to do. Coming
from Arlington, Virginia, a county that has nothing for their youth
to do, they spend most of their time writing music, playing music,
and, well, living music. They had all been in various bands since
6th grade, none of which were very good, but they gained knowledge
and experience from these bands. Matthew and Trevor were in Five Finger
Discount together since the beginning and later on Zach joined
that band as singer. After Five Finger Discount broke up, Trevor and Matt still played together
in Matt's basement, making up music, having fun and just playing
covers, trying out potential members in hopes that they could start
a real band again. None of these guys stuck and it was just luck that Matthew
and Alex had gym during the same period, even though they were in
different classes and different grades. They had never talked before but
Matt had heard stories of Alex cussing accidentally in front
of his entire middle school's staff over a microphone, so when neither
of them dressed out for PE on the same day Matt decided
to talk to him.. and eventually invite him to come play bass in
a band. Alex had been in such bands as Fortune55 and Run a Muck. Yeah, exactly.
But Alex fit in perfectly and his bass skills, singing voice and determination
were perfect for Trevor and Matt to decide to invite him back to play.
So they rocked out a lot, worked on originals,
and played a lot of covers in Matt's basement (which is the
size of a big closet, and dirty too) but never really considered
themselves a real band because it was really just for fun and they
didn't expect it to go anywhere. Then Matt randomly invited
Zach to come play keyboards at a practice and Zach took the invitation,
showed off a little and somehow clicked. He came back to
the next practice, which was much sooner than usual, and sang
this time and all four of the guys realized that they were ready. So
they practiced a lot, wrote a lot of original stuff, dropped all the covers
and got good enough to play a show. Now Rochelle is eagerly
looking for every show they can play, hoping to take their
band where they want to go. Hopefully when they record
in the very near future, it will help them a little.
Make an effort to see Rochelle live and you won't be disappointed.
